District 3B and 3C Now Autonomous!

Although AA had been active in Austin since 1945 as far as being connected to the service structure, little had occurred before the 1980‘s. Our District started out as the combined Districts 3-A,  3-B, and 3-C . These three Districts shared DCM’s and Committee Chairs. There was little participation in the District, and only a handful of AA groups were involved. Information was key to our growth. We got help from other places already active, such as San Antonio, we received workbooks from GSO, got help from DCM’s we met at Area Assemblies. By 1992, we had gone  from 1 DCM and 1 GSR to to 2 DCMS and alternates and all committee positions were filled!  In 1991-1993, a decision was made for District A  to get their own District number, and they became District 29.

District 3B & 3C have been meeting together, sharing service positions, 7th tradition funds, and officers except for DCM & Alt DCM in an effort to remain active in serving the AA groups in Austin and connected to the service structure. Both districts' members in Panel 72 elected to become autonomous beginning with Panel 74 due to the exponential growth of AA in Austin. Therefore, District 3C serves all the AA groups south of the river and District 3B serves all the groups north of the river.
